Today we start our Setup-Friday which will be a regular feature on this blog. The first setup is for a half body portrait shoot where we used four lights.
- A beauty dish as the main light, which is head-on, slightly to the felt side of the model, just high enough that you can still get the nice reflections in the eyes of the model.
- The rear two lights with reflectors on it are directed towards the model, they give her a nice rim light on her neck and hair. They separate her from the background and give the image additional contrast. The fourth reflector (with a Honeycomb) is directed at the background to give it a stronger highlight.
This lighting setup you can use easily for any type of portrait. Also, this is a good starting point for an application photo.
